Having watched programmes like Grand Designs, we were sceptical about whether we really needed a contracts manager on our build as so many people seem to be able to manage a lot of the elements themselves. However, with the benefit of hindsight it was a worthwhile investment. Without Whitebeams help we would have had a significant cost overrun on our build. Dan did a great job of managing all the complexity associated with the contractual elements of the project and ensuring that at every step of the process work was completed as specified.
We worked with Whitebeam on the complete renovation of our Victorian house which involved a rear extension, loft conversion and general refurbishment of the entire house.
Dan initially managed the detailed tender procurement process, through which we chose our preferred builders in line with our budget and required timeframes for the completion of the project. Having helped us choose the right builder, Dan then managed the project through to completion, ensuring that the contract was administered accurately, and amendments/variations were documented clearly and understood by all parties.
Whitebeam did an excellent job of managing the project and ensured the build stayed on track and agreed changes were priced fairly by the builders. He also helped us come up with technical solutions to various problems to ensure we kept costs to a minimum.
